FAQ's

Here you will find some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQ's) about life at Piedmont International University. While these questions are the most common, they are not the only questions we get asked. If your question is not answered on this page, feel free to reach out to one of the staff members of the Student Services team for help. 

 

Q: Can i pick my own roommate?

A: Yes! You are welcome to request a roommate. There is a place to do so on your housing request form and we will do our best to room you with that person. 

 

Q: When can i move in?

A: You will receive an email from Student Services with your move in date and time slot. We need you to do your best to come on that day and at that time so we can best serve you. If for some reason that day or time will not work for you, let us know and we will schedule you for a different day and/or time.

 

Q: What do i need to bring to the dorm?

A: There is a list you received or will receive at orientation. that list is also available on the website at: https://www.piedmontu.edu/student-life-what-to-bring. Outside of that, bring things that make your dorm feel like home. Remember, #THisishome.

 

Q: if i still need to register for classes, what do i do?

A: You can call your admissions counselor, who will connect you with your academic advisor. your academic advisor will talk through your degree plan and class options and get you registered for the classes you need. 

 

Q: what is available with campus life?

A: we have many on-campus events including intramural sports, clubs student services sponsored events (movie nights, cook outs, etc.), societies, hall devotion nights and much more! 

 

Q: Are there jobs available on campus?

A: Yes! Campus jobs operate on a first come, first serve basis. We have a range of jobs from cafeteria, maintenance, house keeping, technology, athletics, admissions and other office roles.

 

Q: What are the meal options for campus and commuter students?

A: commuting students are welcome to eat in the university cafeteria. a commuting student can either pay at the counter when they want to eat, or they can load their student accounts ans simply scan their student id's.

 

Q: Are students allowed to have a car on campus?

a: Yes, there is parking available for all students. You will be required to purchase a parking pass for your car but don't worry, they are not expensive!

 

Q: Is there an ATM on campus?

a: yes, there is an atm located right outside of the business office entrance.

 

Q: What is there to do in Winston-Salem and the surrounding areas?

A: winston-salem is a small city with a great urban feel. there are many parks and natural areas to walk, hike, bike or just hang out. Winston-salem has many very good restaurants and great coffee shops, many of which are within walking distance from campus. The winston-salem dash stadium, which is a minor league baseball team in the chicago white sock organization, is within walking distance to the campus as well. Piu is also a short drive away from pilot mountain and hanging rock, which are two great places to hike and picnic. Winston-salem is part of the piedmont triad, which is home to greensboro (30 minutes away) and high point (30 minutes away). Both greensboro and high point offer fun places to eat and hang out if  you want a change of scenery.
