Guest curated by Cuban born Elvia Rosa Castro and Gretel Acosta, this exhibition features more than 60 works of art by 19 well-known and emerging Cuban artists. It is one of the first exhibitions in the southeast to examine contemporary Cuban artists, both inside the island and the diaspora. This multi-generational, bilingual survey showcases painters, sculptors, photographers, and videographers as well as multi-media installation and performance artists. Throughout the run of this exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Cuban art and programming, including music, dance, artist panels, workshops, lectures and a wider examination of the Cuban diaspora. Frequent bilingual tours in Spanish and English will create a welcoming environment for new and returning audiences. Cubans: Post Truth, Pleasure, and Pain presents artists of all generations from the 70s, through the so-called Cuban Renaissance, to emerging artists of the present day.
